How to Select Sunglasses?

With the temperature soaring of the summer, everyone is more desired for sunglasses; and with the acceleration of the pace of fashion, more and more people treat the sunglasses as the dress, shoes for decoration; large lenses, bright colors, and more and more fashion elements have been added into them. However, people often overlook their basic functions while in the choice. Well, how to select fashion sunglasses?

As for the glasses colors, the light-colored ones have slightly worse results. This year, the sunglasses have a great many bright colors, such as light pink, peach blow, bright yellow and so forth. But can all these colors be acceptable to people’s eyes? To certain extent, their effects are poorer than that of dark colors. On some dark occasions, the UV cannot reach the inner part of people's eyes, which can help prevent some diseases, but the light-colored lenses have no such impacts.

So, when choosing sunglasses, we can’t simply pay attention to their colors; more importantly, the function of anti-UV is more worth of our notice. The deeper the color, the lower the visible light transmittance will be. As a result, it will change the contrast degree while in sight of objects. Among various colors, it is recommended that you may as well choose brown, gray and green.

Besides, the sunglasses with too large lenses can easily cause eye fatigue, since such large lenses are easier to lead to the curvature while wearing. And the greater the curvature, the larger the refractive index will change, then the object you see will appear to be rugged. Thus, a long-term wearing of such lenses will result in your eye fatigue, dryness, and damage your eyesight.

With regard to the decorations in lenses, as long as they are not in the pupil area, they will definitely have little impact on vision.

In addition, as for the children, we advice not to wear sunglasses too long, because the dark glasses that children always put on will surely affect their visual development. As for the elderly and glaucoma patients, it is unsuitable to wear sunglasses for a longer period of time, since their eyes in the dark will be expanded. For those whose eyes are easy to feel tired, the sunglasses will make them even more uncomfortable. What’s more, we suggested that drivers should not wear dark sunglasses.

Sunglasses are mainly used to block UV rays and the best colors are proven to be dark brown and light purple. In general, such lenses can filter out a large number of blue-rays, improve the visual contrast and clarity, and be more effective while wearing in severe air pollution or in foggy circumstances. Some people may like to wear sunglasses in deep color, but in fact, the dark colored sunglasses are easier to induce glaucoma, which as a result, will cause the increase of intraocular pressure.

All in all, while you choose sunglasses, you mustn’t only consider their appearance; more importantly, the functions, colors and their applications should be taken into account.
